The writer, director and editor of this funny and informative movie about surfing is Dana Brown, son of Bruce Brown, whose Endless Summer is a classic surfing film. He takes us on a search to find what gives wave-riders today “the stoke” that keeps them doing what they do?
Brown discovers a remarkable selection of men, women, and children in his hunt for answers. There is young man who still rides his board after having had a crippling accident and a surfing fanatic who hasn’t missed a day in the water for more than 27 years. Brown’s quest discovers surfers who get their buzz riding the waves in the wake of supertankers in the Gulf of Mexico and the famous Malloy Brothers who ride the waves of Ireland’s fabled west coast and have managed to bring Catholic and Protestant kids together as they learn to surf.
In Tahiti, some of the finest women surfers on the planet risk life and limb against a wave with teeth while in Hawaii, surfers of all ages ride Pipeline’s spitting barrels on Oahu’s North Shore. A bunch of dedicated surfers even gather in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, to ride the waves of Lake Michigan. But the most extreme of all are a big wave crew that ride huge 20 meter plus waves 100 miles off of the coast of California.
Lots of extras with this DVD, including surf lessons, how to make a surfboard, surfing etiquette, surfing terms, designing a custom surfboard, and the full version of the video game “Kelly Slater’s Pro Surfer.” You also get a 3D flythrough of the films locations.

This movie gives you an understanding of the way surfers think. It puts you in the water where the action is. It’s a real invitation to “Step Into Liquid”.
